Introducing Anya Tanyavutti as Executive Director

We, the CVD Board of Directors, are thrilled to introduce our incoming Executive Director, Anya Tanyavutti. Anya is a force for change, a great strategic thinker, and a natural leader. Amy Catania will remain with us through the transition over the next two months, which we appreciate and anticipate to be very smooth as both are deeply invested in this work.

Please keep an eye out in the coming weeks for an invitation to a meet and greet opportunity when the transition is complete.  Here is a little bit more about Anya Tanyavutti.

Anya obtained her M.Ed. in Socio-Cultural Studies and Educational Thought and her B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University. She traveled as Fulbright Scholar to Senegal, West Africa, as part of a curriculum development team in 2003, an experience that was foundational to her values in work and life.

She has over 15 years experience as a not-for-profit-leader and an educator, including serving as our own Board Co-chair for two years before being elected in 2017 to the Evanston/Skokie District 65 School Board, where she currently serves as Board Vice President. She provides consulting services in strategic planning and racial and social justice education. Anya remains convinced that her most meaningful, complex, and joyful work is being a mother of three little ones.
