As the women juggle their rigorous academic struggles, they must also provide excellent healthcare to mothers and babies living on the border, many of whom have no access to quality healthcare. Catching Babies is a vibrant and lyrical film that rethinks the way national borders and the medicalization of birth that separates women from each other, their traditions and their natural power to give birth to life.

Maternidad la Luz Birth Clinic is one of a handful of clinics that is able to offer natural birth options to low-income women. Women from Ciudad Juárez, the Mexican city across the border from El Paso, have poured into the clinics doors for over 24 years to receive quality care in a nurturing environment. Advancements of modern medicine are valued alongside Mexican and indigenous Mexica traditions.
